Consultant Development Training Programme on Water Auditing & Water Footprint Assessment
Based on SLS ISO 14046:2021 Standard and Water Footprint Assessment Manual
Background
Water is an essential natural resource. The issue of water and its management has become increasingly central to the global debate on sustainable development.
Growing water demand, increasing water scarcity in many areas and degradation of water quality have created the need for a better understanding of water-related impacts.
Water efficiency at facility level can be improved by conducting a systematic water audit. A water audit is a systematic approach to identifying, measuring, monitoring and reducing water consumption across different activities.
Before planning a water management programme, organizations need to understand exactly how water is being used within their premises.
Water Footprint Assessment
Water footprint assessment helps organizations understand how activities and products relate to water scarcity, pollution and associated impacts.
It provides insights that support better decisions and more sustainable use of freshwater resources.
The programme introduces the application of SLS ISO 14046:2021 together with the Water Footprint Assessment Manual.
Programme Objective
To build the capacity of professionals in water auditing, quantification of water footprints, identification of water saving opportunities in organizations, and application of water conservation techniques and technologies at firm level.
