In the current Sri Lankan scenario, local industries struggle with soaring resource and energy expenses, leading to diminished competitiveness. To counter this challenge, the adoption of Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) practices emerges as a viable and practical solution.

The Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development in collaboration with National Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka (NCPCSL) envisages conducting Resource Efficient Cleaner Production (RECP) Assessments and Capacity Building Training for selected local Industries to ensure sustainable use of energy, water, material consumption and waste management, offer benefits to the Industries by improving business branding, cost savings, improvements in working conditions and environmental performance.

Project benefits

  • Improve resource efficiency (energy, water, and material) of selected industries in Sri Lanka
  • Develop a Resource Efficient Manager within the industry
  • Develop capacity among the staff of selected industries on RECP
  • Encourage other industries in these sectors to follow the RECP concept
